Valuable Icon from the Old Orthodox Church at the Exposition in Athens

The famous icon “Liturgy of the righteous and infernal torments of the sinful” by Georgij Klondzas, property of the Museum of the Old Orthodox church in Sarajevo, will be exhibited at the European exposition at the Byzantine and Christian Museum in Athens. – reports Fena.

The exposition entitled Domenikos Teotkopulos before El Greco marks 400 years since El Greco’s birth.

Georgij Klondzas was El Greco’s teacher.

In order for this valuable showpiece to travel to Athens, it took one year to get all necessary licences for temporary export.

The icon finally made it to Athens where it was welcomed as it suits its value.
