The Federation of Bosnian Associations in Austria “Consilium Bosniacum” has received approval to build a monument to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide on the United Nations Square in Vienna, directly in front of the UN building.
The association says that they raised this issue after the adoption of the Resolution on the Srebrenica Genocide, which was unanimously adopted on July 6, 2022 in the Austrian Parliament.
Two years later, they received a building permit from the City of Vienna to erect this monument – which represents a historic step for the entire Bosnian diaspora and for the culture of remembrance in Europe.
