The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, after the massive anti-government protest “15 for 15”, said in an address to the public that this large protest was held without casualties, despite great tension and negative energy.
“First of all, I want to express my satisfaction that a large protest was held without any casualties. I can inform you that there are no serious injuries ,” said Vučić.
As he explained, a total of 56 people requested medical assistance. According to Vučić, the most seriously injured person received several blows in the confrontation between the demonstrators, but her health is not life-threatening.
Vučić points out that during the protest, 22 people were arrested for criminal offenses against property, attacks on police officers and other citizens.
“We did not raise the baton today. The police officers suffered. More than 60 cannon shots, torches, oysters were thrown into the Pioneer Park… The number is unknown. More than 100 tractors belonging to Serbian hosts were damaged and destroyed,” Vučić said, stating that without the tractors, it would be difficult to stop the bloodshed.
Vučić repeated that the protest was not reported, calling it an attempt at a colored revolution.
He emphasized that the majority of students who participated in the blockade did not want incidents and that, after the first conflicts and internal disagreements, they left the assembly with the message that this was not their way of acting.
“Serbia won. We managed to keep the peace and deal with a lot of things that were hiding behind everything,” stated Vučić.
He went on to say that the Military Service estimated that there were 88,000 people at the rally in Belgrade, while the police estimated that 107,000 people attended the rally.
“A large number of people came from the interior. I am proud of the security services that secured all the participants,” said Vučić.
