Since yesterday morning, the Office of the High Representative (OHR) office and the high representative have been the main topics of the portals in our country. As can be seen from the numerous reactions that flooded social networks, Christian Schmidt started a kind of negotiation on changes to the Election Law. Although the OHR did not officially confirm this information, many reacted before it was determined what it was actually about. The leader of the DF and member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Zeljko Komsicwas among the first to speak, as well as the representative of Our Party in the BiH Parliament, Pedja Kojovic.
“I am sure that the citizens of BiH are not ready to accept anti-European solutions that deepen ethnic divisions in the electoral law. Schmidt should think carefully about what he is considering, and be sure that the decision to the detriment of the citizens and the state of BiH cannot go without consequences. I expect all pro-Bosnian options to clearly express themselves about the deepening of ethnic divisions in the electoral legislation of BiH,” said Komsic, his office announced.
“In addition to being contrary to common sense and the democratic, civil values of the European Union (EU), such a change would contradict the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH, which discussed this issue several times and each time made the same decision; all constituent nations have this status throughout the territory of BiH and that therefore, political rights stemming from ethnicity cannot be tied only to a certain part of the territory. And that is exactly what the HDZ wants, and the high representative, it seems, plans to give that to them. The Croatian caucus in the federal House of Peoples would be, according to the announced changes, filled with delegates who exclusively come from cantons where Croats are the absolute majority,” it was mentioned, among other things, in the reaction of Pedja Kojovic.
SDP representative in the BiH Parliament, Sasa Magazinovic, confirmed that a kind of consultation on the changes is underway. “The High Representative is consulting on the intention to meet HDZ’s changes related to the formation of the government. Value completely wrong. The introduction of new discrimination is on the horizon!” Magazinovic briefly commented.
In the information about yesterday’s meeting in OHR, the name of Miro Lazovic appeared as one of the participants. This information was confirmed by Lazovic himself. “There was a meeting at OHR. The agreement is that the contents of the conversation will not be made public, Lazovic said briefly for Oslobodjenje.
Even though the essential changes are still being speculated, judging by the mentioned reactions, it seems that the high representative is going towards fulfilling the “wishes of the HDZ of BiH“. But, everything is still shrouded in mystery and speculation, and numerous participants in earlier negotiations point out that, as usual, the public will be informed about everything later (probably too late), Federalna writes.
