According to earlier plans, the Počitelj Bridge on Corridor 5C should have been completed in March last year.
However, there have been some delays, so the process will take some time. Due to everything, the public company Autoceste of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina initiated the procedure of collecting penalties to the contractor – the Chinese-Azerbaijani consortium Azvirt.
It is expected that the bridge will be completed in the middle of the current year. The construction contract was signed in June 2019, and the agreed completion time was 900 days. The deadline expired at the beginning of September last year.
So far, columns with a height ranging from 92 to 97 meters have been connected, and the 97-meter one is the tallest on the bridge. Today, the work is focused on the two end pillars, as well as on the second abutment of the bridge.
Currently, four gigantic pillars out of a total of six are connected. According to the project, the Počitelj bridge will be one of the highest in the region. Its length will be 980 meters, and its height will be an incredible hundred meters.
Despite the delays, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is still supporting projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the construction of Corridor 5C. The FBiH Highway announced that the construction of a road from the Mostar-North interchange to Buna, about 30 kilometers long, could begin this year.
The Počitelj bridge will also form the part from Buna to the Bijača border crossing, Biznis Info reports.
