The White House said today that talks between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are “going well” as the two countries try to reach an agreement on a 30-day pause in Russia’s war in Ukraine and improving bilateral relations.

The long-awaited call began at 10 a.m. Eastern Time and is still ongoing, Dan Scavino, Trump’s deputy chief of staff, wrote on X.

White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said Monday that the president or his press team would release a report after the talks. So far, none have been released.

Ukraine has previously accepted the U.S. proposal for a ceasefire, and Trump has threatened financial sanctions on Moscow if it rejects a ceasefire.
