The analysis of the transparency of electoral committees conducted by the Coalition for Free and Fair Elections “Under the Magnifier”, confirmed the widespread occurrence of the so-called trading in seats in electoral committees, which they have been pointing to for years, which is why, as they state, it is necessary to urgently start with changes to the BiH Election Law.
In a press release, the Coalition for Free and Fair Elections points out that for almost ten years they have been warning about “this illegal practice and are asking for the introduction of mechanisms to prevent the trading of seats in electoral committees”.
“In accordance with that, an analysis was conducted, the only one of its kind so far, which, through clear indicators such as a large number of cases indicating the potential trading of seats in electoral committees, confirms the existence of irregularities that must be eliminated,” it is stated.
In the end, the Coalition for Free and Fair Elections ‘Under the Magnifier’ concluded that in the current, non-election year, a serious revision of the existing provisions, practices and irregularities related to the appointment and work of election committees should be undertaken as soon as possible.
This is necessary in order to achieve improvements that will bring about more transparent, efficient work of that part of the election administration, and will be based on respect for the law and the principles of integrity in the election process, the Coalition announced.
