Wizz Air Urged to Open Base at Tuzla Airport: New Routes to Sweden, Austria, Germany Expected Soon

Wizz Air should establish a base at Tuzla Airport: Lines coming soon The Tourist Board of the Tuzla Canton has adopted and published a Decision on the selection of an airline for the award of subsidies for air traffic at Tuzla Airport.

This Decision was adopted with the aim of developing tourism in the area of ​​this canton, and the commission for the implementation of the Public Call for the Award of Subsidies for Air Traffic at Tuzla Airport has selected the Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air, which achieved a total of 15 points.

The subject of the Public Call for the Award of Subsidies to Airlines was announced with the aim of establishing a base and new airlines at Tuzla International Airport, i.e. airlines that have not operated for a year, as well as increasing the number of passengers.

“Establishing an airline base implies that the airline will station its aircraft and crew at Tuzla International Airport, and from which it will operate regular flights,” the invitation states.

The establishment of new airlines refers to strategic destinations, namely: Sweden, Austria, Germany, France, the Benelux countries, as well as other countries for which the Government of the Tuzla Canton determines that there is a justified interest in accordance with market changes in the field of air transport.

This decision of the Commission is subject to appeal within three days, after which it becomes final. If this decision becomes final, Wizz Air will be obliged to launch new airlines and station a base at the airport.

The Government of the Tuzla Canton has earmarked an amount of 1,200,000 BAM for these purposes.
“Subsidization of air traffic will be carried out per arriving passenger to the area of ​​the Tuzla Canton in the amount of 6 EUR/passenger, which amount will be converted into the equivalent of the BAM currency according to the middle exchange rate of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the day of realization of the subsidy,” the invitation states.

The Commission for the implementation of the Public Call for Subsidies for Air Traffic at Tuzla Airport has selected the Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air with a total of 15 points.

Tuzla International Airport also informed users that from June 15, Wizz Air will launch a route to Vienna, with flights operating up to four times a week.

“This route will be especially pleasing to all those who live, work or study in Austria and want to stay connected to their homeland. Flights are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, at a promotional price starting from 73.99 BAM – because the journey home should not be a luxury, but a pleasure,” the airport stated.
