Women make up 57.5 percent of the total Number of Unemployed in BiH

According to the data of the Employment Service in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), as of September 30th, 2021, 384.209 unemployed persons were registered, which is a decrease of 8.342 persons or 2.13 percent compared to August 31st.

Of the total number of those who are looking for a job, 220.949 or 57.51 percent are women.

In accordance with the applicable legal regulations, in September 2021, allowance was used by 15.633 persons or 4.07 percent of the total number of registered unemployed persons. The number of women who used the allowance was 7.816, which is 50 percent of the total number of allowance recipients.

The right to health care was exercised by 218.434 persons or 56.85 percent of the total registered unemployment in BiH, of which 123.427 or 56.50 percent are women.

According to the data of the Agency for Statistics of BiH, in August 2021, the number of employed persons in BiH was 818.459, of which 354.360 were women. Compared to July 2021, the number of employed persons decreased by 0.2 percent, and the number of employed women also decreased by 0.2 percent.

The registered unemployment rate for August 2021 was 32.4 percent and compared to July 2021 it decreased by 0.1 percentage points.

The unemployment rate in BiH in the second quarter of 2021 was 18.1 percent and was lower compared to the first quarter of 2021 (19.1%) by 1.0 percentage points. The survey employment rate in the second quarter was 39.1 percent and was higher than in the first quarter of 2021 (38.4%) by 0.7 percentage points.

The youth unemployment rate (15-24 years) in BiH in the second quarter of 2021 was 39.8 percent, which means it was lower than in the first quarter of 2021 (40.4%) by 0.6 percentage points.
