“We are very happy to know that the Centar Municipality recognized the importance of investing in such highly valuable projects and we are thankful to all those who contributed to the allocation of these funds, especially to the Mayor of the Municipality, Dževad Bećirević. I hope that we will all enjoy the success of our great productions,” Hašimbegović said.
Mayor Bećirević said that the National Theatre is a valuable monument for the entire BiH because of its cultural and historical significance, which is proven by the fact that it was declared the National Monument of BiH.
“Apart from this donation that brought us here today in the first place, we also want to announce that the Centar Municipality allocated funds in its budget for the arrangement of the square in front of the National Theatre. We believe that it is truly unacceptable that the square in front of one significant monument of culture looks like this. Financial funds are ensured, and we hope that works will be completed by the end of the year. The designers are already working on the project, together with the Municipality, the Institute for Protection of Monuments in FBiH and the Ministry of Physical Planning of FBiH,” Bećirević said, adding that the works include the paving of the square and sidewalk along the streets Branilaca Sarajeva, Obala Kulina bana and Kulovića, placement of lighting, and horticultural landscaping.
