A young man, Ermin Muslimović, embarked on an unusual sporting adventure – to run from the Austrian city Spittal an der Drau to Sarajevo, and his goal is to cover about 650 kilometers in less than 20 days and conquer 6,000 m of elevation gain.
Ermin, who was born and raised in Austria, has a special bond with Bosnia and Herzegovina, where his roots are. This bond with a homeland is one of the reasons he decided to undertake this challenge.
“Hello everyone, I am Ermin, born and raised in Austria. My roots are in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country that has followed me since my birth and to which I am deeply connected. For this reason, I will start the greatest challenge of my life in early September: I will run from Spittal an der Drau to Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina – 650 kilometers and 6, 000 m of elevation gain, more than 15 marathons through four countries. My goal is to cross this route in less than 20 days,” he began.
He is aware he will face many physical and mental challenges on this journey, but he sees it as an opportunity to test his own limits. For him, this endeavor is not only a sporting challenge, but a way of returning to his roots.
“I know this journey will test my physical and mental limits. But that is why I want to know that it is possible and how far I can go. This is more than just a run for me. It is a journey back to my roots and the country that always felt like a home to me,” he wrote in his post.
According to his latest social media post two hours ago, he was in the Ključ area and continuing towards Sarajevo.
This challenge has an emotional significance for him. A journey from Austria to Sarajevo represents a unique return to the country of his roots, which is why the entire adventure has a much deeper symbolic meaning than a mere sporting event, Klix.ba writes.
