Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA), Denis Zvizdić, in an interview with FENA, said that it is very good news that the General Affairs Council of the European Union has approved the granting of candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to him, this indicates a high level of guarantee that Bosnia and Herzegovina will officially receive candidate status on December 15.
“It can be seen as a gift from the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina, not at all the result of the work of the outgoing BiH Council of Ministers, which in principle did not do anything serious in the aspect of European integration.
On the contrary, practically, European integration was completely blocked. That is why the candidate status is very important because it will bring a new European energy to BiH, it will give a new hope, a new optimism. It will be a serious incentive to work on the realization of all activities from the European agenda of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Zvizdić believes.
He says that this means the opening of a completely new relationship between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union, permanently and irreversibly placing Bosnia and Herzegovina on the tracks leading to the EU.
He adds that this means new funds, new investments and a new credible approach to European integration by both EU representatives and representatives of the future Council of Ministers of BiH and the state parliament.
