The spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, stated that there will be a strong and measured response to the decision of Great Britain regarding the Russian diplomatic mission.
Zakharova issued a written statement in connection with Great Britain’s decision to expel the Russian military attaché and revoke the diplomatic status of certain properties connected to Russia.
She stated that Great Britain accused Russia of the fire in the warehouses in the capital London and therefore took measures against Russia and pointed out that this was “unacceptable”.
“These actions of the British administration confirm British prejudices and hostility towards Russia. We have repeatedly warned London that any hostile action will inevitably be met with a proportionate response. Our reaction will be sharp and measured,” Zakharova said.
In a joint statement by the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs and Defense, it was stated that the country’s defense attache will be deported, that the diplomatic status of some properties related to Russia will be revoked, and diplomatic activities will be limited. Malicious Russian intelligence activities were cited as the reason for these measures.
