Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Sarovic met today with members of the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture of China. On the meeting, interlocutors discussed the improvement of economic cooperation between BiH and China.

“We had the opportunity to talk about the achievements and cooperation between the two countries in the current period, as well as our plans for the 2017. Last year the cooperation was successful with trade volume of 520 million euros, however, there is a large deficit due to the inability to export as well as due to standards when it comes to the Chinese market. However, there Is a great investment in HPP “Stanari”, worth 600 million euros and made through the support and platform “China plus 16” in the performance of Chinese companies” said Sarovic.

Moreover, minister added that they plan to intensify cooperation in the energy sector, as well as agriculture and tourism in 2017. Moreover, further efforts will be made in order to achieve common agreement on cooperation in the field of agriculture and veterinary medicine, and all in order to achieve the required standards for food of animal origin for the export on the Chinese market.

“Minister of Foreign Affairs has already launched an initiative for visa liberalization to Chinese tourists who could travel to several countries in region at once – Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro,” added Sarovic.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture of China Qu Dongyu said that Sarovic is the most charming minister and invited all journalists to taste Chinese products tomorrow in Mostar.

“China and Bosnia-Herzegovina have a lot of products that can mutually share. Chinese stand at the Mostar Fair will be the largest among the countries outside the Europe which shows our desire to improve cooperation,” said Dongyu.

“Last year 130 million Chinese people traveled the world and I believe that Chinese tourists are increasingly coming to Sarajevo and BiH. BiH has four advantages – film Valter defends Sarajevo, a multi-ethnic culture, rich food and the beauty of nature,” concluded the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of China.
