Ninety-Five Decrease in Tourist Arrivals and Overnight Stays in Republika Srpska Entity

The negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic has particularly affected the tourism sector in Republika Srpska entity.

The large decline in the number of tourist arrivals and overnight stays is a direct consequence of the global spread of Covid-19 disease, as the borders were closed and most accommodation facilities were shut down, as well as an almost complete standstill in tourist traffic.

Therefore, in April, only 703 tourist arrivals were recorded in Republika Srpska, which is as much as 93.3 percent less than in March 2020.

In the same period, there were 3,430 overnight stays of tourists in RS, which is 90.4 percent less than in March 2020, according to the entity Bureau of Statistics.

The number of tourist arrivals in April 2020 compared to the same month last year decreased by 97.8 percent, and the number of overnight stays decreased by 95.5 percent, according to Fena news agency.
