The Minister of Transport of the Sarajevo Canton Adi Kalem, the Director of the Roads Directorate of Canton Sarajevo Selmir Kovac and the Mayor of Novi Grad Semir Efendic signed on Tuesday Annex I of the Agreement on pooling funds for the construction of the roundabout, ie the implementation of the Project “Construction of the IX transversal Railways – Phase II ”, signed earlier.

The signatories of this agreement have agreed to provide financial resources in the amount of 4,900,000 KM with VAT from the budgets of 2020 and 2021 for the realization of the mentioned project, Avaz news portal reports.

According to this agreement, the Ministry and the Directorate will provide 2,000,000 BAM each, and the Municipality of Novi Grad 900,000 BAM.

The signing of the Agreement was also attended by the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Mario Nenadic, who emphasized that the Municipality of Novi Grad gets a valuable infrastructure project, which will provide citizens with a faster and easier way out of the city.

“It is a pleasure that today we can sign this important document that allows us to continue the construction of the IX transversal. The strategic commitment of this Government is to open the city towards the northern and western borders, so that in a month and a half we will have the continuation of construction on the roundabout. The funds provided by the Canton and the Municipality will enable us to connect with LOT 2C, with Dzemala Bijedica Street and infrastructural relief of traffic in that part of the city. The municipality of Novi Grad will get a valuable infrastructure project, the citizens of the Canton will have an easier and faster way out of the city, and that will ensure the reduction of pollution in the city,” said Prime Minister Nenadic.

Minister Kalem pointed out that the IX transversal is one of the priority roads in Canton Sarajevo, the construction of which will give us a quality connection with the highway.

He added that the project solution when it comes to the XII transversal is nearing completion, which will greatly improve the road infrastructure in the Sarajevo Canton.
