Authorized employees of the Indirect Taxation Authority in the area of the Regional Center Sarajevo in several separate actions seized a large quantity of cut tobacco and cigarettes without excise stamps, whose market value is estimated at 76,522 BAM, Vijesti.ba news portal reports.

Due to the emergency situation caused by the coronavirus, authorized officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority, the Group for the Prevention of Smuggling and Misdemeanors, during September 2020 carried out intensified field activities to prevent the illegal sale of tobacco and tobacco products, all as part of the campaign ” Stop smuggling. ”

Thus, in several separate activities, in cooperation with the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Canton Sarajevo, the Traffic Unit, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, the East Sarajevo Police Station and the Ministry of Interior of Zenica Doboj Canton, 83 kg of tobacco and 12,499 packs of cigarettes (24 packages) of foreign origin were temporarily seized.

These cigarettes and finely cut tobacco were not marked with ITA excise stamps and they were intended for sale on the black market of BiH. In the field activities, authorized ITA officials used specialized equipment donated to the Administration by the US Government through the EXBS Program.

The Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH continues to call on all citizens to report any form of customs or VAT evasion or illegal sale of excise products to the open line 080 020 607. All calls are free and completely anonymous. They called on the citizens to submit to the Administration as concrete and precise information as possible, so that the activities in the field could be carried out as quickly and accurately as possible.
