Attempt to get out of the Crisis – Sarajevo Airport offers Bases for Airlines

Sarajevo International Airport has issued an invitation to airlines to establish a base, which would bring special benefits and discounts. As stated, in the first phase, the base is established with two planes, with the option to increase the number of planes, as the available capacities of Sarajevo International Airport increase or if other conditions are met. All airlines that plan to establish a regular route or routes at Sarajevo International Airport have the right to apply for the base, eKapija reports.

Preference will be given to those airlines that plan to carry out the largest number of air operations on a weekly, monthly or annual basis, and airlines that intend to increase the number of air operations in 2022 and 2023. 

Preference will be given to those airlines that plan to open a larger number of destinations, as well as to establish flights to destinations where there were no flights in 2019. Priority will also be given to airlines that plan to operate with aircraft types with a passenger capacity of 150 and more, while meeting the requirements of environmental protection and noise protection in accordance with legal regulations, runway capacity, technical characteristics of Sarajevo International Airport.

The airline base is being established for the period from 2021 to 2023 and the application deadline expires at the end of October. Incentives, ie discount for the airline will be determined on the basis of the number of transported passengers for airlines that have a base at the Sarajevo International Airport.
