Egypt’s capital Cairo is gearing up for a first-of-its-kind “Pharaohs Golden Parade” that will transfer the ancient Egyptian royal mummies from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC).

Set to take place on April 3, 2021, the parade will feature 22 mummies, 18 kings and four queens, dating back to the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties, Arab News reports.

Over 400 television stations will broadcast this event which is considered to be the first of its kind in the world.

These 22 pharaohs ruled in the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties, and they are 18 kings and four queens, among whom are kings Ramses II, Ramses IX, Thutmose III, Seti I, queens Hatshepsut, Meritamen – the wife of King Amenhotep And, and Queen Ahmose Nefertari -wife of King Ahmos.

The ceremony itself will begin with the opening of the doors of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. Golden carriages will be transported with mummies, artistic performances will be organized along the streets where pharaohs will pass, and the entire city will be decorated. An honorary firing in honor of the pharaohs will also be organized.

The sarcophagi with mummies will be welcomed by the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Abdel Al-Sisi at the Grand National Museum, and will be exhibited in a hall called the “Valley of the Kings” as a permanent exhibit.

Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled El-Anani said Egypt wants the world to see the beauty of Egyptian civilization. He also invited all those interested to follow this spectacular event live via the link.
