A Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an Indictment against Zekerijah Hodzic, born in 1962 in Tuzla, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This accused person is charged with illegally putting into circulation tobacco products in the form of cut tobacco, non-factory made cigarettes and cigarettes of various brands that were not marked with excise stamps of the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the period from January 2019 until 07 July 2020, in the area of Tuzla, in order to avoid paying excise duties defined by the provisions of the Law on Excise Duties of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to acquire unlawful property gain.

According to the allegations in the Indictment, the accused procured a larger quantity of tobacco on several occasions, which he illegally distributed to customers at a higher price. During the searches, a larger quantity of illegal cigarettes and tobacco, without appropriate excise stamps of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was discovered and seized from the accused, along with some scales, machines and equipment for rolling cigarettes with filters and other instrumentalities intended for the perpetration of the criminal offense in question.

The Indictment of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges the aforementioned accused with the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Excise Products, referred to in Article 210a, paragraph 1, in conjunction with Article 54 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
