The traditional manifestation “Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igman” will start today with activities at the Memorial Center in Kovaci, and this year’s event will be held under the motto “Come and Testify” and it will gather more than 20,000 people, according to the organizers’ estimates.

Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Minister for Issues of Veterans and Disabled War Veterans of the Liberation War Salko Bukvarevic said that this year will be paid tribute to martyrs and killed soldiers who gave their lives for the defense of our country.

“We will send a message from the Igman Mountain to all the friends of BiH that the veterans of the Army of the RBiH and the Ministry of Interior are still in the defense of our homeland. We will send a message of peace and that we will never forget our members who gave their lives,” said Bukvarevic.

He announced that the manifestation ” Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Igman 2017″ will gather participants from all over the country who gave their maximum contribution to the organization of this event, which is 17th in the last 13 years and was held in Martyrs memorial graveyard Kovaci, the Tunnel D-B, and Igman Mountain, and that will be the case this year as well.

Minister for Issues of War Veterans of Canton Sarajevo Muharem Fiso said that tribute to 30,000 heroes who gave their lives to BiH will be paid in this way.

“We are talking about that so the young people, those who were not even born then, know that every inch of this country was soaked with the blood of our heroes,” said Fiso, adding that from Igman, as in previous years, will be sent a message of peace.

The general sponsor of this year’s event is a member of the Presidency of BiH, Bakir Izetbegovic.
