Vrelo Bosne Source NKP ba“The Bosna River Spring has been visited by 60 000 tourists since the beginning of this year. According to the statistics of the Cantonal public Institution for Protected Natural Areas, the number of tourists remains the same this year. Namely, this is so because of rainy May and June”, says Elma Karović, technical manager of this institution.

Aside from the Bosnian diaspora tourists, a great number of tourists from European countries, United States and Australia also visited the Bosna River Spring.

At Bijambare, one of the four areas protected by the Cantonal public institution for protected natural areas, 16 000 tourists enjoyed their staying and 25 % out of them showed interest in caves.

Karović also says that beside caves, tourists have great interest in renting bikes and driving in the tourist train at Bijambare.

She adds that many efforts were made in order to improve the quality of protected areas in the sense of infrastructure, touristic offer and education of the visitors.

When it comes to other areas under the protection of this institution, Karović says that the precise information about the number of visitors is not still released, but the interest of those visitors remains high.

“Those who want to experience intact natural areas visit mostly the waterfall Skakavac”,  adds Karović.
