In the Republika Srpska entity (RS), 23 fires have been recorded in the past 24 hours, most of which were outdoors and caused by the negligence of residents, Avaz news portal reports.

Therefore, the RS Ministry of Interior urges citizens to be careful when burning grass and other combustible materials, and to perform these tasks only during favorable weather conditions and on areas they can control.

The Fire Protection Act, which came into force in November 2019, prohibits the burning of grass and other agricultural waste without first notifying the fire and rescue unit and taking any necessary action to prevent the spread of fire.

A fine of 100 to 1,000 BAM was also defined for people who burn grass and other agricultural waste without first notifying the fire and rescue unit and not taking all necessary actions to prevent the spread of the fire.
