Iranian police announced on Thursday that they had arrested 24 people accused of spying for Israel and attempting to damage the image of the country.
Kiumars Azizi, police commander for western Tehran, also made a statement.
“24 people who were spying for the Zionist enemy offline and online, and who were trying to disrupt public opinion, and to tarnish and destroy the image of the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, have been arrested,“ he said.
It should be recalled that Iran imposed temporary internet access restrictions across the country two days ago, and the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology cited security issues as the reason.
