The 24th Mediterranean Film Festival (MFF) starts today in Široki Brijeg. New films will be shown in this year’s festival categories, and the organizers have prepared a diverse program for all ages.

In the official program of the festival, 20 films will be shown in selections of short and feature-length documentaries. In addition to the competitive program, the organizers have prepared a special category “In focus” which will present the best film productions of the Mediterranean countries from the past year.

The director of the festival, Tomislav Topić, pointed out that they strive to offer new achievements in cinematography.

“I think it’s a big thing because we, as a small place, can still stand out with some kind of professional production,” said Topić.

The Mediterranean Film Festival has prepared as many as seven film programs this year, and the audience will have the opportunity to see new film achievements. The festival will begin with the screening of the feature film “Stigma” directed by Zdenko Jurilj. The film crew did not hide their satisfaction at this opportunity.

“We gathered a team, and we can’t say that it was a mini-Yugoslavia, but actually it was, from Belgrade, Dubrovnik, Zagreb, Split, Sarajevo and we partly collaborated with people from Slovenia,” says the director of the film “Stigma” Zdenko Jurilj.

Zdravko Mustać is this year’s selector for several festival categories, Tomislav Topić and Robert Bubalo selected films for Off programs, and a special program of MFF Fora selector Silvija Kraljević was prepared for the youngest audience.

At this year’s Mediteran Film Festival, the Sarajevo Film Center will show seven short documentaries made in the period from 1956 to 1988.

The festival program can be viewed on the official website of the Mediterranean Film Festival. The festival will last from October 10 to 14 at several locations in Široki Brijeg. The organizers invite all future visitors to take part in film quizzes and vote for the best film in addition to film screenings.
