12910643_1144209665629988_1972816982_nThe Congress Center Sarajevo was officially presented to the public yesterday. At the 36th regular session of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo, held at the Multimedia hall of the Municipality, the Decision on adopting the urban project of the Congress Center has been adopted.

With opening remarks by the municipal Mayor Semir Efendić, the project was presented by the architects of the company I.D.E.A., whose conceptual design won at the international competition.

The urban project is the most detailed project, consisted of conceptual designs of facilities and infrastructure. Value of the project of construction of the Congress Center Sarajevo amounts to around 300 million BAM. It is the biggest project of the Municipality of Novi Grad and a project of great significance for the Sarajevo Canton and the state.

The future Congress Center Sarajevo will be located in the vicinity of the building of the Novi Grad Municipality, next to the building of the Radio Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina, covering the surface area of 5.77 hectares. The facility will consist of several halls where central culture and business events in BiH wil be held, such as concerts, plays, film screenings and congresses.

The complex will also include a hotel, a shopping center, spacious garages, a number of business amenities, and some residential space. Each individual facility within this complex will have direct access through the three-level garage covering 65.544 square meters.

The first floor of the Congress Center will be reserved for a multiplex cinema with two halls. Capacity of the halls will range between 122 and 167 seats. Second floor will accommodate a polyvalent hall whose concept enables quick and dynamic transformation and the possibility of organizing different types of events. The next floor is reserved for a smaller concert hall with the capacity of 734 spectators and a stage for 100 performers.

The hotel within the Congress Center will have five stars. Guests will have 300 rooms and 34 apartments at disposal. The business-trade center will also enable the transformation of space in accordance with different purposes. In case of need, this space can also be transformed as to meet the needs of cultural events. After the third floor of the business-trade center, the conceptual design foresees five mezzanines, intended for the forming of residential space on the northern side.

With the implementation of this project, the Novi Grad Municipality will also get a central square which is to represent a pedestrian connection with the southern and northern side of this part of Sarajevo. Therefore, it is envisaged that the main traffic is decreased by one level and the tram traffic kept on the zero level, thus creating space for the construction of a square as big as two football stadiums.

An alley will be formed between the pedestrian zone and the traffic area, while the roof of the Congress Center Sarajevo will feature a green area, equipped in urban equipment and sports courts. Such roof and façade amenities are also intended on the facility of the hotel.
