500 Tons of Aid to Farmers of the Flooded Areas Delivered

UNDP: ISPORUKA 500 TONA POMOÆI POLJOPRIVREDNICIMA U POPLAVLJENIM PODRUÈJIMAUNDP has delivered a total of 500 tons of food for animals, fertilizers and seeds for farmers of 15 municipalities hit by floods during this week.

The aim of this action that UNDP implements across the country is to help farmers that during June of this year to do the planting and to ensure the preservation of livestock in areas that have suffered the greatest damages. The procurement and delivery of the aid, worth 460.000 BAM is implemented by UNDP and funded by the Government of the Norway and USAID.

The assistance to farmers has a great significance for the immediate elimination of consequences of floods in B&H. UNDP in coordination with government and local authorities has provided 200 tons of food concentrate for around 1.000 livestock  during the first few weeks, as well as 300 tons of fertilizers and 2.500 sacks of corn seeds for planting of a total of 1.000 hectares of land in municipalities of : Zvornik, Srebrenica, Bratunac, Milići, Bijeljina, Bosanski Šamac, Domaljevac-Šamac, Odžak, Orašje, Sanski Most, Doboj, Vukosavlje, Živinice, Kalesija and Maglaj.

UNDP in cooperation with other international organizations continues with the activities which aim the normalization of life conditions for population of flooded areas.

Delivery of another 500 tons of food concentrate for livestock, fertilizers and seed is expected till end of the month. Thus, the total amount of aid to farmers of the flooded areas would exceed 1.000 tons, or more than 880.000 BAM, announced the Spokesperson of UNDP  Pavle Banjac.
