161127084-1_xlThe 80-year-old Kenneth Smith from Mississippi was standing on a frequent road every day, alone, hoping that someone will stop and buy wood from him so that he could collect money to pay the hospital bill of his wife, who passed away.

No one would know about his emotional and say story if Jessica Pittman did not pass that road and stopped. She took a photo and posted it on Facebook. It became viral and Smith’s family launched a campaign through the GoFundMe service.

“Couple weeks ago he lost his wife, who died of cancer. Now his income is very low. They spent their life savings on fight against cancer,” it was written in the appeal.

Regardless of his age, Smith is used to provide for everything with his own hands.

The story touched people around the world, who raised more than 90.000 USD in six days – 30.000 USD more than necessary.
