After the verdict against Stanisic and Simatovic, reactions were recorded in the Potocari Memorial Center. Several family members who lost their loved ones in the infamous Scorpion attack were interviewed. Among them was a family member of the murdered who was one of the protected witnesses at the trial of Stanisic and Simatovic. In the interview, in which his identity and whereabouts were not revealed, he said that even a hundred years in prison cannot bring back the murdered, but added that the second-instance verdict is satisfactory in the further fight for justice.
Among the six killed is Smail Ibrahimovic, whose wife Ramzija pointed out that it is crucial that Serbia’s participation in the genocide in Srebrenica is clearly proven, and she and other members of the families of those killed will seek partial satisfaction of justice through private lawsuits. There is only one question for this sister, wife, and daughter whose three brothers, husband, and father, among others, were buried in the Potocari Memorial Center – What are 15 years in prison compared to the monstrous crimes committed by members of the infamous Scorpions unit?
“To sentence them to only 15 years, that is nothing, but on the one hand I am a little delighted that Serbia can now be sued as well. But what is 15 years in prison? Go kill one man and your sentence will be bigger than this. And he ordered murders, wherever there was murder and slaughter they ordered them. But I am delighted that now Serbia is to blame. Now they can’t defend themselves,” Ibrahimovic pointed out.
