Yesterday at UN House in Sarajevo, the closing ceremony was held for two progammes Digital Media Academy and Cultural Management for Arts Entrepreneurs implemented by Mediacentar and in cooperation with SARTR. On the occasion of closing the MDGF Advocacy and Partnerships Fund the UN Resident Coordinator, Yuri Afanasiev, met with 25 Mediacentar students who completed the both programmes. UN Resident Coordinator, Yuri Afanasiev spoke with participants about cultural development, civic engagement and employment of youth in BiH, and about various programmes implemented by the UN agencies across the country.
Students learned about partnerships with media outlets, gained new skills, established networks, and articulated the issues through self-publishing tools using digital media. Through workshops and internship programme all students not only gained new skills in digital storytelling and multimedia reporting, but will have the first-hand working experience in issue based reporting through working with senior editors from different media outlets.
Diversity is what makes Bosnia and Herzegovina attractive to people. Instead of findiing diferences in it and separating ourselves from each other, I think we should use that as something that makes us unique“ Afanasiev said.
Damir Imamović, musician and researcher of Sevdah music and Boro Kontić, Director of Mediacenter in Sarajevo, also attended the closing event during which students received certificates for the completion of the programmes.
