Permanent residence permit in BiH has been approved to 1,851 foreign nationals and temporary permit to 9,445 foreign nationals, said a spokeswoman of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs at the Ministry of Security of BiH Sanja Škuletić-Malagić to FENA, on the occasion of 18 December, the International Day of Migrants.
She stated that the most common basis for granting temporary residence is on the basis of marriage to a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina based on which BiH has approved 2,579 requests, followed by residence permits on the basis of issued work permits – 2,204 of them, working without a work permit 1,822, family reunion 1,268, education 995, possession of real estate 373, common law marriage 93, while on the basis of medical treatment 40 permits were issued.
Most of the temporary residence permits were granted to nationals of the Republic of Serbia 2,110, then Turkey 1,283, China 1,095, Croatia 990, Montenegro 620, Macedonia550, Austria 351, Germany 348, Italy 202, the Russian Federation190 , Slovenia 157, Ukraine 79, Syria 75 while the nationals of the United Kingdom were granted 74 temporary stay permits.
According to Škuletić-Malagić permanent residence was mostly granted to Croatian citizens – 378, Montenegro 237, Macedonia 206, China 179, Turkey 159, Germany 110, the Russian Federation 67, Austria 51, Ukraine 41, Serbia 29, the United States 29 and Slovenia 27.
“In the period January – September 2014, there were 375,297 check-in and checkouts of residence of foreign nationals in BiH. It is evident that most of the application for residence in the reporting period was recorded by the Field Office in Sarajevo, then Field Office Mostar, Banja Luka and Bihać,” said spokeswoman for the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs.
