The television transmitter on the hill Hum above Sarajevo was built in the 1980s and has been the symbol of the city ever since. After being damaged in the war it has never been completely renovated, and measures of temporary protection are saving the relay from decaying.
In the past few years, construction work on the repair of the relay on Hum were performed, including the rooms with the new digital transmission equipment and terrestrial broadcasting of digital signals of three public broadcasters.
Periodically repairs of parts of relay stations are done in accordance with the financial possibilities, primarily in order to protect it from further decay. Certain repairs on the antenna tower were performed at the end of December, but a more detailed reconstruction will have to wait for some better times.
“Radio-Television of B&H (BHRT) is performing the necessary repairs of the platform of antenna tower and the existing facility Hum within its financial possibilities. Set up f a network on the antenna tower was performed at the end of December 2015, in order to protect and prevent further decay of the existing infrastructure of the relay station Hum,” said Dzenita Jusufbegovic, Assistant of Director General for development and technology of BHRT.
