US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced an additional package of military aid to Ukraine worth up to six billion dollars.
“This is the largest package of security assistance we have committed to so far,” Austin said after a virtual meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
The Pentagon announced a new weapons package for Ukraine on Wednesday, minutes after President Joe Biden signed a $95 billion spending bill that funds top US national security priorities, including more than $60.8 billion for Ukraine.
The first tranche of aid is valued at $1 billion and includes RIM-7 and AIM-9M air defense missiles, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, small arms and additional ammunition for them, including anti-drone rounds, AA writes.
