A 6.3 Magnitude Earthquake struck New Zealand

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck 208 kilometers (128 miles) from Riverton, New Zealand.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the epicenter was located at 47.22 degrees south latitude and 165.60 degrees east longitude at a depth of ten kilometers (6 miles).

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology estimated the quake at magnitude 6.5, saying there was no risk of a tsunami.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
