Bosnjak – Macdonald: Continuity of UN Support to BiH continues

The Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, met today in Sarajevo with Ingrid Macdonald, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in BiH, who will complete her five-year mandate that began in April 2020 at the end of the month.

During the meeting, the two discussed the results of joint projects implemented by UN agencies in BiH, with an emphasis on strengthening the health and education system, supporting social inclusion, and fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals. The programs of the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, UNFPA, UNESCO, UNDP, and IOM were particularly highlighted.

Minister Bošnjak thanked Resident Coordinator Macdonald for the professional and constructive partnership that contributed to the implementation of numerous projects in the fields of education, health, culture, and social inclusion.

Macdonald thanked the Minister for her support and expressed her satisfaction with the cooperation with the Ministry, emphasizing that the UN remains committed to supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina in implementing reform processes and strengthening institutional capacity.

“The projects that have been initiated will continue unhindered, and a new resident coordinator will be appointed soon. The continuity of our support remains unquestioned,” said Macdonald.

A statement from the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH states that the meeting concluded with the confirmation that the partnership between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Nations remains strong, stable and focused on the long-term benefit of all.
