A Business Centre for Entrepreneurs and Investors opens in Zenica

A Business Centre for Entrepreneurs and Investors to improve the existing and establish new innovative mechanisms in support of the sustainable economic development of the area, opened in Zenica yesterday.

According to European Union Delegation to BiH, establishing the Centre is one of the main activities of the Project ‘Entrepreneurship Support Centre’ which is carried out in the scope of the EU ProLocal Programme funded by the European Union and the German Government.

The Centre will provide citizens with detailed information about all steps for business registration, procedure for issuing various approvals related to activities of entrepreneurs, and allow them to establish connections with appropriate services in the City and the Canton. In addition, the Centre will provide an array of other services with the aim of developing entrepreneurship, business networking and business start-up training.

Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH Khaldoun Sinno voiced pleasure with the opening of the business centre and the cooperation established among the local stakeholders and emphasised the European Union’s continuing support to the development of BiH.

“For the past 15 years the European Union has invested EUR 70 million to stimulate economic development in BiH. Opening of this centre is yet another excellent example of our cooperation with the local community, which will improve the coordination between the existing participants in local economic development and promote new investments,” said Sinno.

Of the total Project value of BAM 201,028.14, the European Union has secured BAM 160,150.14 through a joint European Union and German Government Programme.

The Entrepreneurship Support Centre Project is just one of the activities carried out within the EU ProLocal Programme which supports local self-government and economic development in BiH. The total value of the Programme is EUR 13 million and it is funded by the European Union with nine million and the German Government with four million euros.
