A member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Denis Becirovic, sent a message of support to the candidate of the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, ahead of the second round of presidential elections in Montenegro. His move provoked a sharp reaction from the chairwoman of the Presidency, Zeljka Cvijanovic, who assessed that Becirovic “does not only threaten inter-ethnic relations in BiH but also relations with countries in the region”.
“It is important what you decide on Sunday. It is also important for us in BiH what choice you will make. We will never betray our BiH. Don’t betray Montenegro either. Don’t betray your ancestors, don’t betray history, protect the country,” Becirovic stated.
“I am a man whose attitude is clear and loud, precise and unambiguous. I completely support the people who are fighting for an independent Montenegro. President Milo Djukanovic is a proven fighter for the Montenegrin state and a friend of BiH. Do not allow Montenegro to be conquered by Great State protagonists. Show that a multi-ethnic and anti-fascist Montenegro is in the best interest of both Montenegro and the entire region and the whole of Europe. Protect the anti-fascist and multi-ethnic Montenegro,” Becirovic added.
Moreover, he called on citizens to go to the polls on Sunday and, as he said, save Montenegro.
“On Sunday, show courage and fortitude. Long live Montenegro. Long live BiH. Long live the alliance between the state of BiH and the state of Montenegro,” Becirovic concluded.
Cvijanovic: “Sarajevo unitarism” has been the main obstacle to progress for decades
BiH Presidency Chairwoman Zeljka Cvijanovic stated that her colleague Denis Becirovic, when expressing his support for one of the candidates in the elections in Montenegro, made a series of inappropriate and scandalous messages.
“BiH is not threatened by any Great State, as Becirovic claims, but by Sarajevo unitarism, which for decades has been the main obstacle to progress and normalization of political conditions in BiH”, stated Cvijanovic.
She emphasized that with his unfounded and unmeasured qualifications, Becirovic not only jeopardizes inter-ethnic relations in BiH but also relations with countries in the region.
“We see Montenegro as a neighboring country with which the entities and the joint level of government in BiH should develop the best possible relations, as is the case with all other countries in our neighborhood,” said Cvijanovic, N1 reports.
