The restored Begluca White Mosque in Derventa was officially opened on Saturday with the presence of a large number of believers.
The White Mosque was built as part of the Beglucki vakuf, which was founded in 1850, and suffered the tragic fate of demolition in 1992.

Mufti of Banja Luka Nusret-ef. Abdibegovic expressed his congratulations on the renovation of the Begluca mosque and said that the presence of a large number of believers and representatives of the Orthodox and Catholic churches, as well as the mayor, is a nice message that is being sent from Derventa.

”If there is no one to look at this mosque, then it does not have its essence and joy, and if there is no one to enter it and visit the mosque, then it will be sad,” said mufti Abdibegovic.

Representative of the reisul-ulema of the Islamic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vahid-ef. Fazlovic, pointed out that the opening day of the mosque is a solemn day. He expressed his pleasure to have the opportunity to share impressive feelings with the people who came to witness this great act.

“It is important for us to have a mosque again in this place where it has been for a long time. We could say it has been here for centuries. Every area of ours, including Derventa, is decorated with minarets and towers, it is decorated with symbols of our past, our history, symbols of our cultures in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Mufti Fazlovic.

A sign of the common desire for fraternal unity and peace

Milorad Simic, mayor of Derventa, pointed out that the opening of the Beglucka mosque is the fourth opening in the Derventa area that he attended.

“Certainly, everything that is done in a community is a big deal, and when religious buildings are renovated or built, it is more than big. It’s good, it’s for the good,” said Simic.

The official opening of the mosque was also attended by representatives of other religious communities who expressed their gratitude for the invitation and pointed out that this meeting is a sign of the common desire for brotherly unity and peace within the framework of faith in the Creator.

The emissary of the reisul-ulema of the Islamic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vahid-ef. Fazlovic, after declaring the mosque a waqf and property of the Islamic community, handed over the key to the largest waqif and his mother to solemnly open the mosque.
