The prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office filed an indictment against Đorđe Đokić, born in 2001 in Ljubovia, where he resides, a citizen of Serbia, who is in custody.
The accused is charged of having smuggled 38 illegal migrants, citizens of Burundi and Cuba, from the territory of the Republic of Serbia to the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, among whom were minors, for a fee of 100 euros per person, according to a prior agreement with persons known to him., all while nowing that smuggled persons – migrants do not meet the conditions for legal residence in Bosnia and Herzegovina, nor the conditions for legal crossing of the BiH state border and that some of them are under 18 years of age, which action is contrary to Article 6 of the Protocol against Smuggling of Migrants by land, by sea and air which complements the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime – it is stated.
Smuggling was carried out on October 20, 2022, across the Drina River, using a rubber boat. The accused was discovered and detained by the police officers of Bratunac police station, and during the detention, he tried to escape in the direction of Serbia, he was caught and prevented from doing so.
