Due to strong southerly winds in the central and northern Adriatic on Wednesday, waves up to six meters high are expected in the afternoon and evening hours, which makes shipping difficult and many catamaran and ferry lines are suspended, the Split Maritime Hydrometeorological Center reported.

Gusts from the south in the afternoon are getting stronger and in the evening will turn into a stormy southerly, which will reach a speed of over 100 kilometers, so that it will create waves up to six meters high in the central and northern Adriatic. At the same time, southerly winds in the southern Adriatic will create waves up to four meters high, according to the center.

Due to unfavorable weather conditions caused by a strong southerly, all catamaran lines from Split to the islands are suspended today, according to Jadrolinija’s office for the Split waterway.

The ferry lines Split-Vela Luka (Korčula) – Lastovo, Sumartin-Makarska and Sućuraj-Drvenik are also suspended, said Jelena Ivulić, the coordinator of that office to Hina news agency.
