A strong earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale hit the southern Philippines, local media reported.
The earthquake occurred off the coast of the city of Lingig in the province of Surigao del Sur in Mindanao at 6:23 a.m. local time, reports “Inquirer.net”.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the earthquake occurred at a depth of ten kilometers.
There are currently no reports of casualties or material damage.
