An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale hit the northeastern US states of New Jersey and New York on Friday, the US Geological Survey announced.
“A 4.8 magnitude earthquake hit the area west of Manhattan and was felt throughout New York City,” New York Governor Kathy Hochul said at Platform X.
She added that her team is assessing possible consequences and damage that could have occurred.
So far, there are no reports of casualties.
