On Sunday evening, 18-year-old Leon M. from Koblenz, Germany was killed after an improvised firecracker exploded.

“There are a large number of Croats living in and around Koblenz and we are all shocked by this news. Leon M. was always a lively but very good young man, as was his entire family,” a family friend told Fenix magazine.

According to the police, the explosion took place on Sunday around 8 pm in Rubenach, Koblenz district.

“The tragedy happened only a hundred meters from the family house. The young men were making improvised firecrackers and probably put them together unprofessionally. One of them exploded and seriously injured Leon,” added a family friend.

Leon suffered serious physical injuries, and despite resuscitation measures, unfortunately, he died.

The parents of the deceased young man were originally from Jajce and came to Germany in the mid-90s. The boy’s mother is being treated for a serious illness, and Leon also had a sister who was 12 years younger, Klix.ba writes.
