Saudi club Al–Ittihad president Anmar Al–Haili once again spoke openly about his great wish to bring Lionel Messi to the club, though the Argentine star rejected a very lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia back in 2023.

Al-Haili clearly stated that finances would not be an issue, and that Messi would have complete freedom regarding his salaryand contract length.

“If Messi agrees to sign for Al-Ittihad, I would offer him a contract according to which he could earn as much as he wants, even a lifetime,” said Al-Haili.

The Al-Ittihad president confirmed that he tried to sign Messiafter the Argentine left Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, but Messideclined.

“Yes, I contacted him when his PSG contract expired. I offered him 1.4 billion euros. He refused the offer because of his family. He did not hesitate to decline, as his family comes first. I respect him, and we will always welcome him with open arms. He can come whenever he wants,” Al – Haili concluded.

Instead of moving to Saudi Arabia, Messi chose to continue his career with Inter Miami, a club in Major League Soccer (MLS),and at the end of 2025 he extended his contract with the club until December 2029.
