UEFA Introduces New Rule: Changes Arrive in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Before starting the calendar layout for the 2027/2028 season, UEFA sent clear instructions to national associations requesting that domestic matches do not overlap with European competition dates.

European football’s governing bodies made it clear that the schedules of their club competitions would have to be taken into consideration during the arrangement of domestic league and cup matches.

The document, among other things, specified the match dates for the Champions League, European League, and Conference League, with particular attention paid to aligning the European and national calendars.

The essence of the message is that associations should not schedule domestic competition matches during periods when UEFA matches are being played.

With this requirement, UEFA wants to directly prevent overlaps of major matches that could impact fan interest, television viewership, and the commercial value of the competition. The idea is that European and domestic matches do not compete with each other for the attention of fans and TV rights holders.

This means that during time slots when UEFA competition matches are played, WWin League of Bosnia and Herzegovina matches cannot be played either, which will have to be aligned for the next season.
