Admir Ganibegovic, Returnee to BiH: I lived in Germany but Homeland is the most beautiful Place

Admir Ganibegovic returned to Modrica 16 years ago, after leaving his home in the early 1990’s. He spent the war as a refugee in Germany, Munich, and he spent his first years after the return in the settlement of Ilidza in Sarajevo.

In the end, he returned to his family home in his hometown, which, he would not change for either Sarajevo or Munich.

After he returned to Modrica, he founded a family and he currently lives with his wife Nadina and two sons, Esmir who is ten years old and a three-year-old Mirza.

“When we returned to our house, there was a family of Serb nationality living in it. Those were the first year of return when you could not simply return your property, and there was a lot of tension going on. We ended up in a position to solve this problem by paying to these people in order to get our own house, which is a bit bizarre, but the most important thing for us was to return our home. After years spent as a refugee, that was our main desire,” said this thirty-four-year-old man.

When asked about the security situation and inter-ethnic relations, he noted that Modrica is recognized as a very positive environment in that regard.

Ganibegovic’s started a family business AG Company in Modrica, which is dealing with the processing and distribution of materials for heating.

The company has been operating for several years and they recently received public support from the Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees of the FBiH as one of the users of the projects for the support of start-up businesses, thanks to which they expanded their production capacities.

His message to young people is that the work and persistence pay off and that they can plan their future in BiH.
