Advent Brings Neum Back to Life, Hotels Fully Booked

Neum comes alive in December with music, children’s events, and a rich gastronomic offer, all as part of the Advent programme running from December 19th to 28th. The festive atmosphere and great entertainment are a perfect overture to the craziest night of the year, for which extra places are already being sought in Neum.

All major hotels in Neum that are open during the holidays have sold their capacities in advance to foreign tour operators, which is why New Year’s Eve celebrations in these facilities mostly take place as closed events intended exclusively for hotel guests.

“These are our three major hotels, and they have been organising New Year’s celebrations for years now; these are traditional guests who regularly return. So in one hotel the guests are from Slovenia and Austria, while the other two have a mix of guests from BiH and abroad,” points out Nikola Prkacin, Director of the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Neum.

“We put together a kind of three-day package, where we have the New Year’s Eve celebration and a repeat of the New Year’s Eve celebration. Guests come from across the entire former Yugoslavia,” emphasises Tomislav Lovric, a hotel owner in Neum.

At the same time, domestic travel agencies are offering the remaining available accommodation capacities. An additional draw for guests is the proximity of other attractive cities and destinations in the region, which makes Neum an interesting destination for the New Year holidays.

“Both because of New Year’s Eve in Dubrovnik and because of some celebrations that will be held in Neum. I see they are organising transport to Dubrovnik; we know that Dino Merlin will be performing there, all capacities are sold out,” says Davor Kresic, Sales Director at the hotel.

Special emphasis has been placed on Advent in Neum, which ends on December 28th. Plans are already being considered for additional steps forward and new ideas for 2026.

“At the beginning of 2026, we are also planning a New Year’s programme, that is, for the offers and hotels to include in their programmes an open-air New Year’s Eve celebration in Neum, and that is one of our goals,” said Dragan Jurkovic, Mayor of the Municipality of Neum (HDZ BiH).

As the mayor explains, the goal is for Neum to once again have an attractive open-air New Year’s celebration, by the sea and at a representative location. This would further open Neum up during the winter period and make it a destination visited throughout the entire year.
