After 130 years of operation, the coking plant in the company ArcelorMittal Zenica has been completely closed today and production has been suspended, it was officially confirmed by this steel company.
They pointed out that they decided to take this step, among other things, because of the financial situation, but also because of the fact that almost 80 percent of environmental problems were caused by emissions from the Coke plant.
However, the integral production of steel will not come into question because now coke will be bought, and the 200 workers should be adequately taken care of either in the Arcelor Mittal plants in Zenica or in the plants of this company in Europe.
“CVs have been sent from all the workers to Germany, France and Poland, and they will consider whether ArcelorMittal in France, Germany and Poland suits them. It is now a matter for the workers who will be offered, and the management of the company,” said Rašid Fetić, president of the Workers’ Union of Arcelor Mittal Zenica.
