Although BiH and Georgia have generally good relations, there is a lot of space for the improvement of their mutual economic relations, especially when we take into consideration that the trade between them on an annual basis is below 500,000 EUR.

This was noted at the meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of BiH and Georgia, Igor Crnadak and Mikheil Janelidze, who is staying in a two-day official visit to BiH. Ministers confirmed their commitment to promotion of mutual relations by signing the Memorandum of Understanding.

As they stated, the legal framework for the improvement of relations has been established in this way and they added that BiH will be able to convey its experiences when it comes to its EU path to Georgia, because BiH usually shared its experiences with the countries that have gone further on that path.

The chief of diplomacy of Georgia, Mikheil Janelidze, recalled that diplomatic relations between the two countries were established 20 years ago, and added that both countries went through numerous challenges in the 1990’s, but they mutually support their sovereignties.

He also expressed his satisfaction with the progress that BiH has made on its path to membership in the EU, and noted that the final goal of Georgia is to become a full member of the EU as well. He also noted that there is a possibility to extend their cooperation in the fields of industry, agriculture and trade.

During his official visit to BiH, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Mikheil Janelidze, will also attend the meeting with member of the Presidency of BiH, Bakir Izetbegovic.
