An EU Grant Agreement worth €10.7 million for the Mostar North – Mostar South section was signed today at the headquarters of the JP Autoceste FBiH in Mostar.

The agreement was signed by Denis Lasić, Director of JP Autoceste FBiH, and Charlotte Ruhe, Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for Central and Southeastern Europe. The signing ceremony was also attended by Antonella Di Sandri, Head of Operations Section for Economic Development, Natural Resources and Infrastructures at the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The construction of Corridor Vc represents a key infrastructure project for BiH, and today’s signing of the grant agreement is yet another confirmation that its significance is recognised by our partners in the European Union. The Mostar North – Mostar South section is among the most challenging segments of the entire Corridor, and this grant allows us to undertake thorough preparations before work begins on the ground. I would like to take this opportunity to once again express my gratitude to the European Union and the EBRD for their continued support to JP Autoceste FBiH, and, by extension, for their contribution to the construction and development of a modern motorway network in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, said Director Lasić.

The €10.7 million in grants, provided by the European Union to finance the preparation, procurement, supervision and execution of the construction contract for the Mostar North – Mostar South section, has been made available under the Connectivity Agenda through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF).

“Today’s signing of the grant agreement for the construction of the Mostar North – Mostar South section marks a significant step forward in advancing the completion of Corridor Vc. The European Union remains a committed partner to Bosnia and Herzegovina, offering vital support that brings direct benefits to local communities by enhancing connectivity, reducing travel times and improving road safety. The EU has so far provided a total of €870 million in grants for the construction of Corridor Vc, which clearly reflects our sustained commitment to the country’s regional integration and its prosperous European future”, stated Di Sandri.

The agreement signed today on the utilisation of grant funds forms part of a broader multi-million-euro package supporting the construction of the Mostar North – Mostar South section, for which the European Union has allocated a total of €155.9 million in grants.

In addition to these approved funds, the construction of the Mostar North – Mostar South section will be co-financed through a Loan Agreement with the EBRD amounting to €110 million, as well as funding secured from commercial banks.

“The EU grant agreement signed today will provide funding that will help accelerate the implementation of the project and the construction of this vital section of Corridor Vc. Together with the EU, we remain committed to supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina in completing the construction of Corridor Vc”, said Ruhe.

The Mostar North – Mostar South section, spanning a total of 13.8 km, forms part of LOT 4 of Corridor Vc. It begins at the Mostar North interchange, located in the village of Kutilivač, and ends at the Mostar South interchange, which connects to the M6.1 Gnojnice – Blagaj main road. The route primarily traverses hilly and mountainous terrain, alternating between cuttings and embankments and incorporating a substantial number of structures.

In addition to the aforementioned interchanges equipped with side toll plazas, the section will feature the construction of 11 bridges/viaducts, six double-tube tunnels, three underpasses and two overpasses. The Mostar North interchange has also been designed to include a Traffic Control and Management Centre (TCMC).
